Community Outreach Programs.
We know that showing compassion and care to all living creatures will promote health and happiness for our whole community. For that reason we have established the following programs.
Animal Outings.
With the help of competent volunteers, we have animals that are available to visit:
- Nursing homes
- Hospitals
- Schools
Educational Field Trips.
We offer a safe, educational and fun destination for field trips. In this effort we hope to educate both children and adults regarding animal welfare, caring for the earth and the benefits of volunteer service.
Internship Opportunities.
The sanctuary is currently working toward incorporating internships for university students of veterinary medicine and associated veterinary fields to provide students an opportunity for hands-on learing.
Coming in the summer of 2008.
Children's Partnership Program.
The sanctuary will be offering an opportunity for abused or traumatized children to connect with our animal residents.
We will be partnering with experts in adolescent psychology to allow these children to work with neglected and abused animals at the sanctuary.
Our goal is that these children as well as our animal residents can heal together while learning love and trust.
Organic Gardening Program.
This program will pair young teenagers with local gardeners to grow vegetables for the local soup kitchen as well as the animals here at the sanctuary.
Peace and Compassion Program.
A course for ages 10-12 on lessons of peace and compassion. More information about this program is available here.
